About Holding Space
At Holding Space, LLC, we believe that who we are and how we feel are products of:
the inner work of honoring ourselves
the environment/systems & society we’re embedded within.
Carly grew up in Wisconsin and as a kid noticed that even the best adults had gaps in their knowledge. Pursuing theater, she moved to NYC to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Carly quickly discovered her passion was in the community, collaboration, and storytelling processes of theater rather than the theatrical product. Even embedded in the richness of New York City and equipped with collaboration and communication skills, many successful adults she encountered expressed feeling like they lacked the skills needed to navigate in our world. Carly decided she needed to learn new ways of offering support and healing, and got her Masters in Social Work from the Silberman School at Hunter College.
Together with her team, Carly is now a clinically-informed educator and consultant who centers connection, authenticity, and humor in her practice. My work combines the richness of the self-expression, connection, and joy of theater with practices that support wellness, healing, and social justice. We believe people heal people, so our methodology is working with groups and communities.
We've spent years working in the nonprofit, educational, and start-up world. Now we're excited to meet and work with you!
I’m growing, too.
I’m deeply committed to being in a continual state of learning so I can “know better, do better.”
Some areas I’m growing are practicing in liberatory ways, and learning from and contributing to my chosen-family, a vibrant community of artists, activists, educators, and healers.
I’m addressing my own socialized patterns of self-neglect and self-loathing, pursuing my passions around cooking and biology, and hoping to soon adopt a dog.
I’m confident that in working together, we’ll both grow and evolve.
